ENV 101 - Introduction to Environmental Science

Description
A survey of basic ecological principles and an examination of selected environmental issues including overpopulation, pollution and energy alternatives.

Student Learning Outcomes
  1. Illustrate the basic philosophy and procedures of the Scientific Method.
  2. Analyze the organizational roles of living organisms in ecosystems and how biological communities change through time.
  3. Evaluate the inter-connectivity of Earth systems and how matter and energy flow between ecosystems.
  4. Examine the fundamental role that overpopulation plays in all environmental issues with regards to the overuse and contamination of natural resources.
  5. Assess the benefits and costs of current fossil-fuel based energy compared to nuclear and renewable energy resources.
  6. Examine environmental hazards and their impacts on human health.
