Short stories read and discussed, with special emphasis on analysis and interpretation of plot, character, point of view, theme, symbol and tone.

Use critical reading and writing skills to engage and analyze plot, character, point of view, theme, symbol, and tone in short story literature.
Explain the diversity of human experience across time and place in short story literature.
Situate works of world literature within historical, social, economic, scientific, and other contexts.
Control conventions of language, mechanics, and MLA format in academic writing.
Exhibit research skills in writing.
