Description
An in-depth introduction to the principles of psychology including sensation, perception, cognition, learning, physiological psychology, personality, development, psychopathology, social psychology, assessment, and history through the use of an enhanced interactive instructional environment utilizing supplemental sources, reflective reasoning, and intensive dialogue. Courses with “H” suffixes are designated Honors-level courses and can be used to fulfill equivalent general education requirements.

Student Learning Outcomes

Define and explain common terms and concepts in psychology and in the major sub-fields of psychology.
Describe and analyze how past psychological paradigms have shaped modern psychology perspectives on human development, mental processes and behavior.
Compare and contrast normal and abnormal human development, mental processes and behavior and evaluate the role biology and social environment plays in each.
Explain how common research methods are employed in psychology.
Evaluate the significant impact psychological theories and applications have had on our lives and the world around us.

Prerequisite: Admission to the Honors program
