CRJ 106 - Introduction to Corrections

Description
This course familiarizes students with the corrections profession. This includes the historical development, current concepts and practices, and issues that impact the management of offenders.

Student Learning Outcomes
  1. Define corrections and discuss the roles of corrections in the criminal justice system.
  2. Describe how the concept of punishment has evolved over time.
  3. Examine special needs offenders and the challenges with housing these populations.
  4. Analyze the inmate classifications system and the role it plays in the management of offenders.
