CRJ 155 - Juvenile Justice System Credits: 3 Description This course examines the causes and extent of delinquent behavior; techniques for addressing juvenile offenders and victims; the prevention and repression of delinquency; and community resources for juvenile offenders including juvenile law, court, and correctional procedures.
Student Learning Outcomes
- Summarize the nature and extent of delinquency in the United States.
- Compare the general theories of juvenile crime causation.
- Examine the impact of social institutions such as family, peers, and schools on juveniles’ behavior.
- Identify the association between school failure and delinquency and the legal rights of students.
- Describe the laws, procedures and policies involved in processing a juvenile offender through the juvenile justice system.
