CRJ 164 - Introduction to Criminal Investigation Credits: 3 Description This course focuses on the fundamentals of criminal investigations; techniques of crime scene search and recording; collection and preservation of physical evidence; sources of information; interviews and interrogations; preliminary and follow-up investigations.
Student Learning Outcomes
- Describe the investigative process at various stages of a criminal case.
- Determine a variety of ways in which criminal suspects can be identified.
- Examine techniques used to collect and preserve evidence.
- Demonstrate the basic steps of conducting interviews and interrogations.
- Determine legal considerations impacting investigators’ conduct.
- Create notes and reports that can be submitted as evidence in a court of law.
