ENG 113 - Composition I for International Students Credits: 3 Description A writing intensive course designed to strengthen college-level composition skills, with particular attention to audience, purpose, and context for writing focusing on the writing process and introducing research.
Student Learning Outcomes
- Identify purpose, audience, and rhetorical situation.
- Read and analyze academic sources.
- Use a process approach to compose complete, coherent, and well-developed thesis-driven essays.
- Locate, evaluate, and integrate information sources.
- Employ appropriate documentation to support research-based essays.
- Control conventions of language, mechanics, and MLA format.
Prerequisite: English Placement Test; or completion of ENG 098 with a grade of C- or better; or ESL 139 with a grade of C- or better Corequisite: None Graded: Letter Grade
