Organization, working principles, functional processes of state and local governments in the United States. (Satisfies the legislative requirement of the Nevada Constitution.)

Student Learning Outcomes
  1. Demonstrate an understanding of the American federal system and the relationships between and among local, state, and national governments.
  2. Demonstrate an understanding of the institutional similarities and differences among the many different forms of state government.
  3. Demonstrate an understanding of the behavioral similarities and differences among major forms of local or city governments in the United States.
  4. Demonstrate a comprehension of the differences and resulting characteristics of professional and non-professional legislative bodies.
  5. Demonstrate a comprehension of the impact on state government resulting from a plural executive leadership model.
  6. Demonstrate a comprehension of the various methods by which state judicial officers are selected and the impact that process has on the state’s legal process.
