Description
An interdisciplinary survey of race and ethnicity, examining identity, cultural diversity, intergroup relations, and public policies from sociological and anthropological perspectives. 

Student Learning Outcomes
  1. Describe the historical antecedents of racial/ethnic intergroup relations that shapes our world’s diversity.
  2. Compare cultural practices, symbols, and beliefs, within the context of cross-cultural group relations and conflicts. 
  3. Explain how the ideologies of assimilation and cultural pluralism influence the experiences of racially and culturally diverse populations. 
  4. Evaluate social science solutions to social issues resulting from and perpetuated by intergroup conflict.
