EMS 168B - Electrophysiology/Electrocardiography Credits: 3 Description Instructs in the anatomy, physiology, and electrophysiology of the cardiovascular system as it relates to the electrocardiogram (EKG) tracing and clinical patient findings. Students will learn both normal and abnormal EKG findings and rhythms as well as the recognition and management of dangerous or life-threatening dysrhythmias.
Student Learning Outcomes
- Correlate the cardiovascular anatomy, physiology, and electrophysiology to the electrocardiogram (EKG) tracing and clinical patient findings.
- Identify the components of the EKG tracing and common prehospital EKG monitors.
- Interpret EKG rhythms in a single lead.
- Prioritize treatment for dysrhythmias utilizing Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) standards.
- Project a positive and professional demeanor while in the classroom setting.
