PHYS 180 - Physics for Scientists and Engineers I

Description
Lecture in Newtonian mechanics. Covers rectilinear motion, particle dynamics, work and energy, momentum and collision, rotational mechanics, oscillations, wave motion, and gravitation. Note: Students should have successfully completed MATH 181 - Calculus I  before taking this course and students must register for PHYS 180L - Physics for Scientists and Engineers Lab I  before registering for PHYS 180. 

Student Learning Outcomes
  1. Demonstrate knowledge of Scientific Methods and the relationship of theory, experiment, data analysis and general knowledge.
  2. Demonstrate the ability to analyze data and perform dimensional and graphical analysis of collected data.
  3. Demonstrate knowledge of concepts and laws of Newtonian mechanics.
  4. Apply these concepts and laws to solve problems in areas of classical mechanics.
