PHYS 180 - Physics for Scientists and Engineers I Credits: 3 Description Lecture in Newtonian mechanics. Covers rectilinear motion, particle dynamics, work and energy, momentum and collision, rotational mechanics, oscillations, wave motion, and gravitation. Note: Students should have successfully completed MATH 181 - Calculus I before taking this course and students must register for PHYS 180L - Physics for Scientists and Engineers Lab I before registering for PHYS 180.
Student Learning Outcomes
- Demonstrate knowledge of Scientific Methods and the relationship of theory, experiment, data analysis and general knowledge.
- Demonstrate the ability to analyze data and perform dimensional and graphical analysis of collected data.
- Demonstrate knowledge of concepts and laws of Newtonian mechanics.
- Apply these concepts and laws to solve problems in areas of classical mechanics.
