STAT 152 - Introduction to Statistics


Credits: 3
Description
Basic probability and statistical methods with applications (possibly with computers and the internet);. Topics include correlation, descriptive statistics, experiments, graphical presentation of data, hypothesis and significance testing, linear regression, point and interval estimation, and sampling.

Student Learning Outcomes
  1. Apply basic probability and statistical methods.
  2. Interpret data using descriptive statistics and graphs.
  3. Construct point and interval estimators for parameters based on data.
  4. Conduct hypothesis testing using data.
  5. Analyze data using appropriate statistical analyses such as linear regression.
     

Prerequisite: A grade of C or better in either MATH 124  or MATH 124E  or MATH 126  or MATH 126E  or MATH 128 ; or a satisfactory ACT/SAT/Placement Test score
