Description An introduction to blockchain technology, which is a type of distributed ledger technology: what blockchain is, how blockchain was developed, how blockchain works, and the primary issues, challenges, and opportunities blockchain faces. Students engage in hands-on work, such as contextualized code exercises, to lay a strong foundation for blockchain development.
Student Learning Outcomes
- Compare and contrast fundamental data structures and their uses.
- Describe, discuss, and use readily available online tools to explore the concepts and applications of hashing.
- Describe the basic components that comprise a blockchain.
- Discuss how the components of a blockchain operate together to form a system.
- Discuss distributed, immutable, and consensus as pillars to distributed ledger technology.
