MTT 105 - Machine Shop I Credits: 3 Description Introduces basic machine shop skills that include lathe operation, lathe speeds and feeds, precision measuring techniques, layout methods, band saw and drill press operations, and exposure to the science of heat-treating of metals. Shop safety and etiquette shall be emphasized. May take concurrently with MTT 106.
Student Learning Outcomes
- Measure and inspect parts using standard and precision measuring instruments.
- Demonstrate safe and proper setup and operation of a CNC lathe.
- Operate CNC lathe using proper G-Code programming methods.
- Sharpen or replace various cutting tools.
- Calculate optimum feeds and speeds for CNC machinery.
- Troubleshoot workholding, tooling, speed and feeds, and programming problems.
Prerequisite: FMM 101B Corequisite: None Graded: Letter Grade
