BIOL 434 - Mammalogy Credits: 4 Semesters Offered: Fall Campus/Sites Offered: Varies by semester. Offering Note: Campus may vary from year to year.
Description Origins, evolution, taxonomy, biogeography, morphology, physiology, behavior, and ecology of mammals. Laboratory will stress identification and natural history of mammals native to Nevada. Mandatory field trips.
Student Learning Outcomes
- Explain the ways in which mammals are diverse (and unique), how, when, and why that diversity arose, and the major threats to that diversity.
- Recognize fundamental aspects of mammalian biology, how mammals interact with each other, with other organisms, and with their environment.
- Identify functional adaptations of mammal groups.
- Distinguish characteristics of various mammal groups.
