FUNS 284L - Embalming Lab Experience

Description
This course provides hands-on experience with embalming processes and procedures in conjunction with course FUNS 284 Embalming. Emphasis is on the ethical and sanitary preparation of human remains. Students in this class will be expected to evaluate, critique as well as assist one another in simulated and/or clinical embalming. Field Trips may be required. 

Student Learning Outcomes
  1. Demonstrate the proper use of personal and environmental protections as well as the proper disposal of fluids and contaminated materials.
  2. Demonstrate the steps to complete an arterial and cavity embalming.
  3. Evaluate steps and procedures for preparation of a body, arterial or cavity embalming, review of protective measures and associated embalming report. 
  4. Justify how the steps and options selected for an embalming case address the ethical treatment of the deceased.
  5. Generate an embalming report for a decedent’s case file.
