EMS 202 - Advanced ECG Interpretation

Description
Introduction to 12 lead electrocardiogram (12L ECG) interpretation for the prehospital provider. Course focuses on myocardial ischemia/infarction and relevant ECG mimics. Students will also learn conduction blocks, ectopies/aberrancies, axis deviation, hypertrophy, and common electrolyte imbalances and toxicologic ECG findings.
Student Learning Outcomes
- Identify myocardial ischemia and infarct
- Recognize ischemia/infarct mimics on a 12L ECG
- Discuss potential 12L ECG changes observed in chronic medical conditions
- Identify 12L ECG changes associated with acute medical emergencies
- Project a positive and professional demeanor while in this classroom setting.
Prerequisite: EMS 168B with a grade of C or higher
