Description
Introduces the fundamentals of securing Internet of Things (IoT) devices and environments, following the EC-Council IoT Security Essentials framework. Examines IoT architecture, associated risks, and security controls across consumer devices, industrial systems, and smart environments. Emphasizes real-world vulnerabilities and risk mitigation strategies through hands-on labs and case studies. Key topics include embedded systems, network security, firmware analysis, device hardening, and regulatory compliance. Designed for beginners, the course provides a foundation for careers in cybersecurity, embedded systems, and smart technologies. 

Student Learning Outcomes
  1. Describe the components, architecture, and communication protocols of Internet of Things (IoT) ecosystems. 
  2. Identify security threats, vulnerabilities, and risks associated with Internet of Things (IoT) devices and networks. 
  3. Explain the principles of device hardening and secure development practices for Internet of Things (IoT) systems. 
  4. Assess Internet of Things (IoT) devices using basic techniques and recommend mitigation strategies. 
  5. Analyze real-world Internet of Things (IoT) security incidents to assess their impact on privacy and safety.
