Description
This course provides instruction in all phases of metal preparation: sanding, masking, metal treatment, priming, as well as spraying basecoat and clear coat and the proper use and maintenance of paint guns.

Student Learning Outcomes

Identify a given vehicle, make, model, and year.
Properly interpret SPO Label and identify paint type.
Properly identify substrate.
Identify paint codes, obtain the proper paint numbers.
Utilize mixing scales properly.
From the formula sheet determine the proper mixing colors from the mixing bank; mix the proper amount of paint for the vehicle.
Spray assigned and prepped panel to match assigned vehicle.
Properly match car “color, texture, and gloss”.
Prep panel for paint.
Utilize safety and personal protective equipment.
Perform proper procedures in polishing, buffing, cutting, and finish sanding.
Pass the associated I-CAR certifications.
