AC 102B - Introduction to HVAC Electrical Theory and Application Credits: 5 Description This course covers electrical safety, basic electrical math, elementary circuit diagram reading and drawing, and motor theory. Labs cover: assembly and wiring techniques, and the use of electrical meters.
Student Learning Outcomes
- Explain the safety importance of fuse and breaker amperage capacities.
- Calculate and measure voltage, amperage, and resistance. (Math Component)
- Identify electrical system components in an air conditioning system.
- Draw and interpret elementary HVACR electrical schematics.
- Wire a straight cool air conditioning unit controlled by a 24v thermostat.
- Develop positive attitudes towards work and service to others. (Human Relations Component)
