Description
Survey of the distribution, morphology and physiology of microorganisms in addition to skills in aseptic procedures, isolation and identification. Topics in microbial genetics, human disease and immunology are also explored. Recommended for pre-health sciences majors.

Compare the basic structures and biological processes found in eukaryotic cells, prokaryotic cells, and viruses.
Adhere to correct collection and transfer of microbiological samples.
Accurately communicate information about infectious disease and public health principles to patients who have little or no medical background.

Prerequisite: BIOL 189 with a grade of C or better
