CIT 154B - Dynamic Web Applications Credits: 3 Description Hands-on exploration of Web applications such as wikis, blogs, syndication methods, podcasting, social networking, virtual worlds, online video and image sharing, and web based office applications. In-depth examination of these increasingly pervasive Web 2.0 applications and of their implications and potential for many career fields. Students projects showcased in electronic portfolios (optional).
Student Learning Outcomes
- Build and maintain a blog that includes syndication, reader interaction, multimedia and links to related blogs and web pages.
- Build and maintain a wiki that includes links to related sites and accepts additional information from readers.
- Use a web based word processor and spreadsheet and presentation package.
- Search for, evaluate, download and run multimedia for a given topic.
- Post original contributions using at least two of the following applications: podcasting, social networking, virtual worlds, video/image sharing application.
- Promote the sites so they can be found in various search engines.
- Explain the benefits of using web-based applications in a current or future career field (i.e. marketing, human resources, teaching, customer support, construction, web design, networking, legal assistant, etc.).
- Package the material created during the semester into a cohesive unit that can be showcased as an electronic portfolio to accompany resumes or to demonstrate the benefits of adopting Web 2.0 applications (optional).
