Description
An intensive introduction to wireless LANs which focuses on the design, planning, implementation, operation and troubleshooting of wireless LANs. This hands-on lab-oriented course stresses documentation, design, and installation issues, as well as lab safety, on-the-job safety, and working effectively in a group environment. This course will help prepare students for the Cisco wireless LAN Support Specialist Designation.

Student Learning Outcomes

Identify regulations and standards pertaining to wireless networks.
Explain radio frequency characteristics as they pertain to wireless networks.
Describe common protocols and devices used in wireless networks.
Select and install wireless network infrastructure devices.
Perform a site survey to gather information needed to develop a proposal for a wireless network.
Develop a wireless network implementation recommendation.
Present a wireless network implementation recommendation.

Prerequisite: COM 115 and ENG 107 both with a grade of C- or higher; or Instructor approval
