CSCO 230B - Security Operations Center Fundamentals

Description
The Security Operations Center Fundamentals course is designed to prepare students for today’s associate‐level job roles in security operations centers (SOCs). Content covers the foundational skills, processes, and knowledge needed
to prevent, detect, analyze, and respond to cybersecurity incidents as part of a SOC team. Students will be provided with a combination of hands‐on experience, instructor‐led lectures, and web‐based curriculum. Student will prepare to take the industry certification (Cisco Cybersecurity Operations exam).

Student Learning Outcomes
  1. Explain security threats and prevention practices.
  2. Utilize key SOC metrics to expedite detection and containment of breaches.
  3. Create effective security policies and procedures based on industry bestpractices.
  4. Continuously monitor systems to detect anomalies and breaches
  5. Conduct malware analysis and interpretation.
  6. Implement access control models for digital assets.

Prerequisite: CSCO 121  or Instructor approval
