DH 313 - Periodontic Principles I Credits: 2 Description Introduction to periodontal scaling and debridement, associated equipment, and procedures.
Student Learning Outcomes
- Integrate accepted theory and methods into periodontal procedures and armamentarium.
- Perform periodontal instrumentation skills to remove biofilm and deposits from the tooth surface.
- Justify the reasons for maintaining the integrity of periodontal instruments.
- Evaluate periodontal anatomy for appropriate periodontal instrument selection.
- Appraise root morphology when performing periodontal instrumentation.
- Explain the rationale for using chemotherapeutics including indications for use and technical application of product.
- Use patient information to determine a dental hygiene diagnosis and periodontal care plan.
Prerequisite: Admission to the B.S. Dental Hygiene program
