VID 203B - Directing the Actor for Film

Description
This class analyzes the craft of directing actors for the film/video medium, and gives students a working knowledge of acting theory and practice from the director’s point of view, as well as directing and choreographing actors specifically for the camera.

Employ audition techniques and how to cast effectively.
Exercise rehearsal techniques to help actors better realize their characters and performance.
Identify through-lines, objectives, beats and subtext.
Create a shooting plan, floor plan, and storyboard.
Investigate how to stage and block actors for the camera.
