Description
Introduction to control and modification of natural light and studio applications of tungsten and quartz lighting equipment, as it applies to film and video. Lighting terminology, tools of the trade and lighting techniques for specific needs, like people, rooms, action and products will be taught.

Explore lighting techniques for portrait and people situations.
Construct both short and broad lighting techniques.
Construct lighting for architectural exteriors and interiors, including room sets.
Show techniques such as 3 and 5 point lighting, zone and action lighting.
Determine lighting ratios.
Use one-light techniques.
Use nighttime lighting techniques.
Handle light meters for filmmakers.
Calculate different color temperature situations.
Operate basic blue screen techniques.
Develop a lighting vocabulary.

Prerequisite: VID 110B with a C grade or better; and MATH 104B; or Instructor approval
