ENG 287 - Capstone Portfolio Credits: 2 Description A two-credit independent study course in which English majors construct a substantial literary analysis essay and writing portfolio. This course satisfies the capstone requirement for the Associate of Arts Degree with an English Emphasis.
Student Learning Outcomes
- Identify purpose, audience, and rhetorical situation.
- Integrate academically-reliable information sources.
- Use a process approach to compose well-developed, research-based essays.
- Create an argumentative and/or exploratory thesis supported by textual evidence.
- Master conventions of language, mechanics, and MLA format and documentation.
- Interpret and synthesize literary texts.
- Analyze the ways in which language and/or literature explore diverse human experiences.
