WHO SHOULD USE THIS ACADEMIC MAP

This academic map should be used by CSN students who are completing the Philosophy, AA at CSN and plan to transfer to UNLV to complete a BA Philosophy Major upon graduating from CSN.

Students should visit the UNLV/CSN Transfer Office for transfer course grade and GPA requirements.

HOW THIS ACADEMIC MAP IS SET UP

The academic map totals a minimum of 60 credits and assumes no transferred coursework. It is set up to show students the ideal path to completing the degree in four (4) semesters. Students who cannot take the map’s recommended number of credits each semester will take longer to complete the degree, graduate and transfer. CSN Semester #1 - Recommended Courses

Total Minimum Credits: 15
Student MUST MEET with an advisor or counselor BEFORE REGISTERING for their NEXT SEMESTER.

Mathematics (General Education) - Credits 3-5: Options Include: MATH 120 or MATH 120E
English Composition (General Education) - Credits 3-5: Options Include: ENG 100 or ENG 101 or ENG 110 or ENG 113
Humanities (General Education) - Credits 3: COM 101 - Public Speaking
Core Requirements (Major Requirements) - Credits 3: PHIL 101 - Introduction to Philosophy
Fine Arts (Major Requirements) - Credits 3: See a counselor or advisor to choose a course option without prerequisites and is valued at 3 credits.

CSN Semester #2 - Recommended Courses

Total Minimum Credits: 14
World Languages 111 or above is a UNLV Recommendation.
Student MUST MEET with an advisor or counselor BEFORE REGISTERING for their NEXT SEMESTER.

English Composition (General Education) - Credits 3: Options Include: ENG 102 or ENG 114
U.S. and Nevada Constitutions (General Education) - Credits 4: Options Include: HIST 100 or PSC 101
Core Requirement (Major Requirements) - Credits 3: PHIL 102 - Critical Thinking and Reasoning
Humanities (Major Requirements) - Credits 4: See a counselor or advisor to choose a World Languages 111 or above course.

Social Science (General Education) - Credits 9: See a counselor or advisor for course selection. Each course must be a different course prefix.
Philosophy Elective (Major Requirements) - Credits 3: See a counselor or advisor to choose any PHIL course not previously completed in an earlier semester.
