Applied Psychology: Mental Health Services, AAS

This degree is not intended for transfer to UNLV, UNR, or NSU.  Some of the courses may be eligible for transfer depending on the policies of the institution you are transferring to.  Students who wish to transfer should consult with their assigned advising unit.

DESCRIPTION
The Applied Psychology degree offers required general education courses and a broad foundation in direct service provision of quality mental health and other community services.  The degree program is interdisciplinary in nature and is designed to prepare students for direct service careers in a variety of public, non-profit, or private mental health or community service organizations.  The program offers students opportunities for practical application of learning within an academic framework applying ethical standards.

Student Learning Outcomes


  1. Construct quality documentation for treatment using written and oral communication skills.
  2. Demonstrate direct services in mental/behavioral health in various community service programs.
  3. Analyze individual behavior, strengths, and needs in development of service planning.
  4. Apply best practices in planning and implementation of treatment in various community service programs.
  5. Recognize diversity and use of ethical standards in social services practice.
