DESCRIPTION
This degree provides students with the necessary education and skills required by today’s Network Security specialists. Instruction includes courses on server/client centric security issues as well as router/switch centric security issues. It provides students with a wide array of training in various functional areas related to network security. Completion of this course of study prepares students for successful completion of a number of industry certification exams such as CompTia Security+, Cisco CCNA: Security, and others.

Program Learning Outcomes
- Evaluate the architecture and components of computer hardware and operating systems to support secure system deployment and management.
- Implement basic cryptographic practices and secure protocols to protect system and data integrity.
- Utilize networking tools, protocols, and defensive techniques to detect and mitigate security threats.
- Deploy and maintain secure networked systems by applying principles of hardening, access control, and secure configuration.
- Design and implement basic scripts or programs to automate security tasks and improve operational efficiency.

Major Requirements
TOTAL MAJOR REQUIREMENTS CREDITS: 37 Grades of D+, D, and D- in the major requirements (occupational) area in an Associate of Applied Science degree program will not count toward graduation requirements. Core Requirements (25 Credits)
Students must complete CIT 105, 112, 114, 126, 129, 173, and 217 before selecting and completing elective courses, as the courses have one or more of these as prerequisites, especially if completing the courses listed in one of the specialization guides listed in the electives section. While the order in which these courses are taken is not strictly fixed, students are strongly encouraged to follow the recommended sequence below to build foundational knowledge progressively and maximize success in advanced coursework. - Complete 12 credits of any CIT or CSEC or CSCO prefix course not used to satisfy another area of this degree.

Cloud Security complete CIT 211 and CIT 213 and CIT 214 and CSEC 100. -
Digital Forensics complete CSEC 120 and CSEC 121 and CSEC 220 and CSEC 221. -
Compliance complete CSEC 101 and CSEC 191 and CSEC 225 and CSEC 226. -
Offensive Security complete CIT 274B and CSEC 181 and CSEC 281 and any CIT or CSEC 3-credit course. -
