CPD 230 - Addiction and Trauma Credits: 3 Description Provides knowledge of the interrelationship between addiction and trauma. Covers diagnostic criteria and includes experiential roleplay and practice in counseling skills.
Student Learning Outcomes
- Identify the signs and symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
- Identify the signs and symptoms of Acute Stress Disorder (ASD).
- Identify similarities and differences between PTSD and ASD.
- Identify similarities and differences between PTSD, ASD, and Substance Abuse.
- Identify treatment approached relative to substance abuse and trauma.
- Describe the diagnostic criteria for Substance Abuse and the various trauma categories.
- Demonstrate familiarity with counseling approaches and techniques appropriate for persons presenting with addiction and trauma.
