Description
This course introduces the specialty of interpreting in educational settings from pre-school through post-secondary levels.

Please note: Students MUST earn a C or better in this course for completion of the BAS Deaf Studies.

Student Learning Outcomes

Translate educational materials into semantically correct English and American Sign Language.
Interpret selected texts using techniques for educational interpreting.
Perform interpreting tasks focusing on speaker affect, register variations and analysis of texts.
Model and appraise the work of professional interpreters in K-12 and Post-Secondary educational settings.
Perform educational interpreting tasks in a practical setting.
Analyze various strategies used while providing services to various grade levels in the educational setting.
