Description
Applied laboratory procedures in immunologic and molecular techniques used to analyze antigen-antibody reactions in the diagnosis of health or disease. Includes advanced immunohematological procedures.

Student Learning Outcomes
  1. Utilize the principles of the immune response to evaluate antigen antibody reactions in diagnostic methods.
  2. Prioritize the techniques used for investigating adverse transfusion reactions.
  3. Articulate blood collection procedures and processing of both donor and recipient for safe transfusion practice.
  4. Perform and evaluate routine and advanced immunologic and immunohematologic procedures including applicable quality control.
  5. Appraise patient status when presented with patient results and prioritize appropriate testing protocols for best patient outcomes.
