Description An intensive introduction to wireless LANs which focuses on the design, planning, implementation, operation and troubleshooting of wireless LANs. This hands-on lab-oriented course stresses documentation, design, and installation issues, as well as lab safety, on-the-job safety, and working effectively in a group environment. This course will help prepare students for the Cisco wireless LAN Support Specialist Designation.
Student Learning Outcomes
- Identify regulations and standards pertaining to wireless networks.
- Explain radio frequency characteristics as they pertain to wireless networks.
- Describe common protocols and devices used in wireless networks.
- Select and install wireless network infrastructure devices.
- Perform a site survey to gather information needed to develop a proposal for a wireless network.
- Develop a wireless network implementation recommendation.
- Present a wireless network implementation recommendation.
Prerequisite: COM 115 and ENG 107 both with a grade of C- or higher; or Instructor approval Corequisite: None Graded: Letter Grade
