FT 190 - Fire Instructor

Description
Topics included are the role of the instructor, preparing instructional objectives, communication skills, use of visual aids, and practice teaching techniques. Meets NFPA Standard 1041, Fire Instructor Training. Those completing the course will be eligible to test for IFSAC Fire Instructor I certification through the Nevada State Fire Marshal office.

Student Learning Outcomes
  1. Implement the four-step method to instruction as identified in NFPA standard 1020.
  2. Choose preparatory instructional activities for an identified topic and audience.
  3. Determine the methods and aids appropriate for presenting a topic to fire service personnel.
  4. Produce a multimedia presentation on a fire service-related topic.
  5. Prepare and utilize a skill checklist to conduct a safe skills activity.
  6. Develop a valid performance evaluation item for a written examination based on a selected skills checklist.
