PN 108B - Practical Nursing II Credits: 4 Description Applies nursing skills, nursing process, therapeutic communication, mental health concepts, medication administration, calculation skills, and legal and ethical responsibilities of the practical nurse in the care of adults and older adults in acute and ambulatory care settings.
Student Learning Outcomes
- Provide safe, quality, evidence-based, patient-centered nursing care in an acute care medical/surgical setting to adults and older adults of various cultures.
- Identify the process of clinical judgment to promote health, and develop an understanding of emotional, social, and physiological determinants of health in acute care adults and older adults. (Human Relations)
- Implement a quality improvement practice to improve the care of adults and older adults.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team, the patient, and the patient’s support person when managing patient care in an acute medical/surgical setting.
- Explain legal, ethical, and professional standards in practice as a licensed practical nurse.
- Integrate the use of information management systems and patient care technology in daily clinical practice to communicate, update knowledge, avoid error, and support decision-making while caring for adults and older adults.
