Description
This course examines the history, purpose, organization, and strategies of the major and minor American political parties, and also examines the purpose of interest groups and their impact on the policy-making process.

Student Learning Outcomes
  1. Explain the history and development of political parties and their role in the political arena.
  2. Interpret the dynamic relationship between interest groups, political parties, and the political process.
  3. Evaluate the various tactics employed by both political parties and interest groups in following their respective agendas.
  4. Construct project-based assignments related to the development of lobbying tactics.
