Description
Introduction to the basic design and technical components of theatrical production, including understanding effective tools for designer communication. Through lecture, projects, and discussion, students will attain a basic understanding of the collaborative nature of production.

Student Learning Outcomes

Communicate design and technical information for scenic, costume, and lighting components of the theatre.
Present designed projects to prove a working knowledge of the elements of design and visual composition for the theatre.
Defend artistic choices in graphic communication and artistic drawing as a primary means for improvement in expression.
Demonstrate a working knowledge of scale and drafting standards as established by USITT standards.
Analyze a script focusing on the design elements required for the production and demonstrate how these elements are integrated into a theatrical design.
