THTR 200 - Introduction to Design/Technology

Description
Introduction to the basic design and technical components of theatrical production, including understanding effective tools for designer communication. Through lecture, projects, and discussion, students will attain a basic understanding of the collaborative nature of production.

Student Learning Outcomes
  1. Communicate design and technical information for scenic, costume, and lighting components of the theatre.
  2. Present designed projects to prove a working knowledge of the elements of design and visual composition for the theatre.
  3. Defend artistic choices in graphic communication and artistic drawing as a primary means for improvement in expression.
  4. Demonstrate a working knowledge of scale and drafting standards as established by USITT standards.
  5. Analyze a script focusing on the design elements required for the production and demonstrate how these elements are integrated into a theatrical design.
