THTR 231 - Acting Studio I: Technique

Description
An intensive studio approach to introduce the student to the basic principles of acting and its artistry through vocal and physical awareness, character development and analysis, and scene study. This class is intended for declared Theatre majors or students pursuing the CoA in Acting.

Student Learning Outcomes
  1. Incorporate theatre vocabulary and terms through text analysis and performance.
  2. Create and further develop characters through the Stanislavski system of acting.
  3. Demonstrate and evaluate human behavior in stressful situations through scene work.
  4. Utilize advanced acting techniques in scene-study and performance.
  5. Conduct self-evaluation as a primary means for improvement.
