Description
Provides a detailed study into the relationship between music production and computers. Topics include digital signal processing (DSP), software synthesis, plugins, computer audio hardware, and other components of the digital audio workstation (DAW). NOTE: This course uses Ableton Live.

Student Learning Outcomes

Assess detailed features and functions of common computer music hardware and software.
Operate intermediate to complex features of Ableton Live computer music hardware and software.
Assess how to use Ableton Live in the creation of music.
Create MIDI music recordings using hardware and software together.
Setup a computer for music recording using Ableton Live.

Prerequisite: MUS 160 with a grade of C- or higher
