MATH 20 - Learning Support for MATH 120/120E Credits: 1-3 Description This course contains a review of basic mathematics, algebra, study skills, and just-in-time learning support for MATH 120E. Please note: CSN only offers this class for 2 credits.
Student Learning Outcomes
- Understand number sets (natural numbers, whole numbers, integers, rational numbers, irrational numbers, real numbers)
- Apply math vocabulary correctly, including a familiarity with speaking, writing, and reading mathematical and algebraic expressions
- Determine place value and round to decimal numbers
- Simplify fractions
- Convert between decimal, fraction, and percent
- Perform operations involving fractions, integers, decimals, and percentages
- Compute exponents and square roots
- Use the order of operations
- Evaluate algebraic expressions and formulas
- Solve simple linear equations and proportions
- Identify information contained in bar, line, circle graphs
- Work with two dimensional graphs and plots
- Recognize and utilize study skills to be successful in college mathematics (time management, note-taking, test-taking strategies, etc.)
