MTT 140 - Inspection Techniques Credits: 3 Description Exposes the student to the principles of dimensional Metrology. Applies Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) concepts and applications. Students will use common measuring instruments relating to state-of-the-art manufacturing environments. Accurately measure manufactured parts and fixtures for the manufacturing industry. Skills will focus on micrometers, calipers, and various other measurement tools. Principles of dimensional metrology and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T) concepts and applications.
Student Learning Outcomes
- Identify the system components of a Metrology workstation.
- Identify the basic features of measurement tools.
- Inspect manufactured parts for flaws and defects.
- Determine if manufactured parts are within tolerances specified on drawings.
