MTT 105 - Machine Shop I


Credits: 3
Description
Introduces basic machine shop skills that include lathe operation, lathe speeds and feeds, precision measuring techniques, layout methods, band saw and drill press operations, and exposure to the science of heat-treating of metals. Shop safety and etiquette shall be emphasized.

Recommend concurrent enrollment in MTT 106 for additional practice and skill development.

Student Learning Outcomes

  1. Use standard measuring instruments
  2. Properly setup and operate a lathe
  3. Operate lathe turn diameter, single point thread, and knurl and bore.
  4. Sharpen various cutting tools
  5. Calculate different operating feeds and speeds for machinery.
