MT 142 - Conduit Bending and Installation Credits: 0.5 Description Understanding of general conduit bending and installation in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC), conduit systems, general specifications and the use of types and major components of materials are introduced.
Student Learning Outcomes
- Demonstrate safe and proficient operation of various bending equipment, including hand benders, mechanical benders, and electric/hydraulic benders.
- Calculate the required measurements, shrink constants, and adjustments for various bends, including 90-degree bends, offsets, three-point saddles, and back-to-back bends.
- Construct a complete, continuous conduit run that is plumb, level, square, mechanically secure, and free of kinks or damage.
- Adhere to all industry safety standards and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements while cutting, reaming, bending, and installing conduit.
- Troubleshoot common bending mistakes and adjust techniques to correct errors and minimize material waste.
Prerequisite: MATH 116 or ET 111 ; and either MT 102 or ET 131 Corequisite: None Graded: Letter Grade
