Credits: 3 Description Overview of the research process in the social sciences including the fundamental characteristics of quantitative and qualitative research, experimental designs, and the role of statistical and correlational techniques.

- Describe and explain terms, concepts and current research theories used in the social sciences.
- Analyze the relationships between theory, hypotheses and empirical data.
- Identify the variables encountered by researchers when conducting social science research.
- Compare and contrast quantitative and qualitative research designs.
- Evaluate the advantages and limitations of various social science research designs.
- Recommend appropriate methods for the collection, analysis, interpretation and presentation of research data.
