Student Learning Outcomes
- Demonstrate a general understanding of the needs and uses of chemistry in every day life.
- Explain the similarities and differences between elements, molecules and compounds.
- Examine the social, political, and environmental impacts of science and technology on a local, national, and global scale.
- Appreciate that chemistry is occurring all around us all the time, and that it is a relevant subject.
- Identify and name simple organic and inorganic compounds by I.U.P.A.C. nomenclature.
- Learn about and use the basic tools that chemists use, such as chemical equations and the simple math of chemistry.
- Understand the methodology and perspective of science and its application to daily life, and its effects on society.
