CLS 265 - Laboratory Operations I Credits: 1 Description Introduction to clinical laboratory sciences including laboratory safety, professional ethics, fundamental laboratory calculations, quality assessment, laboratory information systems, and correlation of laboratory data in patient care.
Student Learning Outcomes
- Perform basic laboratory calculations.
- Evaluate quality control data as it relates to the validity of laboratory results.
- Discuss quality assurance as it relates to laboratory workflow, quality control, governmental regulation and compliance.
- Correlate patient laboratory results to patient care and disease diagnosis.
- Describe the function and operation of the clinical laboratory in relationship to others on the healthcare delivery team.
- Compare and contrast employee and employer responsibilities related to safety protocols.
- Discuss the utilization of computerized laboratory information systems.
