Description
Study of jazz literature for the layperson from the early 1900s to the present with emphasis on differentiating the various styles of jazz.
Student Learning Outcomes
- Recognize aurally the historical periods of jazz history.
- Understand the origins of Jazz and its development to the present
- Name and list important artists from the various periods of Jazz history.
- Understand the fundamentals of the jazz improvisation process.
- Aurally recognize several Jazz artists from each period in Jazz history.
