PORT 101B - Basics of Portuguese I

Description
A course emphasizing spoken communication. Speaking, oral listening, reading and writing skills explored. A vocabulary of Portuguese-English words developed.

Student Learning Outcomes
  1. The student will learn the correct pronunciation of the Portuguese alphabet and will be able to enunciate words in a comprehensible manner.
  2. The student will be able to create simple sentences in order to communicate on an everyday basis.
  3. The student will learn basic vocabulary related to everyday situations. For example, greetings and introductions, questions and answers, etc.
  4. The student will be able to answer questions in complete sentences on tests, exercises, etc., and to prepare their oral presentations.
  5. The student will recognize cultural differences in the Portuguese world.
